How the shelf gets chosen

An outlet is an editing job

An outlet floor is not a smaller showroom, it is a narrower one. What reaches this shelf has to hold up in a room that gets used daily and steamy — so the trays are stone rather than printed board, the caddies are teak and bamboo rather than coated pine, and the mats are the dense chenille that still dries out by evening. Prices run from $7.99 for a coaster to $229.99 for the towel warmer, and the reasoning is the same at both ends.

By room, then by surface

Bath first, because that is where most of this collection lives.

The heavier end

Stone, teak and a towel warmer

A handful of pieces here run well past the rest of the shelf — solid marble trays, an expandable teak caddy, a stainless towel warmer.

Practical questions

Do the marble trays stain?

Marble is porous, so scent oils and soap left standing will mark it in time. Wipe spills rather than letting them sit and the tray stays clean.

Will the bath mats survive a wash?

The chenille mats here are machine washable. Wash cool and skip the fabric softener, which is what flattens the pile.

Does the teak caddy need oiling?

Not to function. An occasional wipe of food-safe oil keeps the colour warm rather than letting it go grey, but the wood is fine either way.

What is delivery?

Flat $14.95 within the US, free once the order reaches $99.

Can I return a mat I have used?

Returns run 30 days and need the item unused in its packaging. Once a mat has been down on a bathroom floor we cannot resell it.
