About Design Mix

An outlet floor is not a smaller showroom. It is a narrower one, and everything on it has been through an edit.

What reaches this shelf has to survive a room that is used every day and is wet for part of it. That single test removes most of what a general home store carries. It is why the trays here are cut from marble rather than printed board, why the caddies are teak and bamboo instead of coated pine, and why the mats are the dense chenille that still dries out by the evening.

The collection sits mostly in the bathroom, which is the room that gets furnished last and photographed never. Vanity trays, bath mats and runners, tub caddies, soap and lotion dispensers, shower hooks, a bidet attachment and a stainless towel warmer. A smaller group of pieces — glass drinkware, a titanium board, cushion covers, car coasters — carries the same reasoning into the rest of the house.

Prices run from a few dollars for a coaster up to the towel warmer at the top of the range, and the logic does not change between the two ends: material stated plainly, and nothing described as stone that is not stone.

The gallery and outlet are at 611 S La Brea Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90036, United States. We are open Mon-Sat 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM | Sun closed.
